Festival in the Desert (Festival au Desert)

The continent of Africa have been discribeb by some as the continent of festival. If you happen to withnes some of the colourfull and vibriant festival throughout the entire continent ranging through musical, cultural, religious, havest among many other, you cannot help but agree with those who call Africa the continent of festivals. One of such many and exciting festivals is the Festival au Desert.

The festival in the desert is a unique event modeled on traditional gatherings and celebrations of the nomadic Tuareg people, the "Blue people of the Sahara."  It is an opportunity to meet the Tuareg people hosting and attending the festival. The
day time events include traditioal Tuareg music, singing, dancing, poetry, ritual swordplay, camel races and artisans' exhibits. Night time activities are powered by electrical generators and it is mainly on-stage world-music concerts.
Though, this years Festival au Desert has come and gone, it will not be a bad idea to keep a date with the next one.
